Bio-image Analyst position at Monash Micro Imaging, Monash University


Monash University is one Australia’s Group of Eight research intensive universities. Monash Micro Imaging (MMI) is one of Monash University’s Technology Research Platforms, providing state-of-the-art optical microscopy instrumentation, support and expertise to all Monash University researchers and postgraduate students. MMI is based in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Science, which ranks in the top 40 universities worldwide for clinical, pre-clinical and health sciences. MMI undertakes a range of microscopy activities to support research, including training in research methods, instrument operation, method development and data analysis.

We are now looking for a Bio-image Analyst to support and develop bio-image analysis and informatics at Monash University. The successful candidate will be collaborating with researchers and MMI staff on research projects requiring advanced image analysis on data from various optical imaging modalities. They will develop new data analysis pipelines and help to automate and scale existing pipelines. They will also be responsible for providing training and support in basic image processing and analysis for post-graduate students and staff.

Holding a degree in biology, physics, computer sciences or equivalent, the successful candidate will need experience in the acquisition and analysis of multi-dimensional image datasets and a strong background in computing, with experience in one or more high level programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Matlab). The candidate will have a keen interest in open-source imaging software and libraries (e.g., ImageJ/Fiji, CellProfiler, Icy, KNIME etc.), but also be willing to support and use existing commercial software within the facility.
